Terms & Conditions

Last updated: June 2025

1. About These Terms

These terms and conditions govern the therapeutic services provided by Sophie Jayne Therapy. By booking a session, you agree to these terms. Please read them carefully and raise any questions before your first appointment.

2. Services Provided

Sophie Jayne Therapy offers online counselling and psychotherapy for individuals and partner/s. Sessions are delivered via Google Meet and last 50 minutes unless otherwise agreed. Therapy is not a substitute for medical advice, psychiatric treatment, or emergency services.

3. Initial Consultation

I offer a free 15-minute intro call to discuss your needs and determine whether my approach is a good fit. This call does not constitute a therapy session and no therapeutic relationship is formed during this conversation.

4. Fees & Payment

  • Individual therapy: £85 per 50-minute session
  • Relationship therapy: £95 per 50-minute session

Payment details are securely collected via Stripe at the time of booking to secure your session. I do not see or store your card details. Your card will not be charged until 24 hours before your session begins. I reserve the right to adjust my fees with reasonable notice. Any fee changes will not affect sessions already booked.

5. Booking & Scheduling

Sessions are booked through my online scheduling system. You will select a service, provide payment details securely via Stripe, and then choose an available time slot. I will do my best to offer times that suit your schedule. A regular weekly or fortnightly slot is recommended but not required, you are free to book session by session with no minimum commitment.

6. Cancellation & Rescheduling

I require a minimum of 24 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling. You can manage your booking, including cancelling or rescheduling, through the link in your confirmation email.

Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged at the full session rate. Cancellations made with more than 24 hours' notice will not be charged. If I need to cancel or reschedule, I will offer an alternative time. You will not be charged for sessions I cancel.

7. Late Arrivals

If you join a session late, we will use the remaining time and the session will still end at the scheduled time. The full fee applies. If you have not joined within 15 minutes of the start time without prior notice, the session will be recorded as a late cancellation and charged in full.

8. Confidentiality

All information shared in sessions is treated as strictly confidential. I will not disclose anything you share without your consent, except where:

  • There is a serious risk of harm to yourself or others
  • Disclosure is required by law (e.g. court order, terrorism, drug trafficking)
  • In anonymised clinical supervision, to maintain professional standards

For relationship therapy, I do not hold secrets between partner/s. If something is shared with me individually that is relevant to our relationship work, I will encourage you to bring it to a joint session.

9. Online Sessions

Sessions take place over Google Meet. A link will be sent to you in your booking confirmation email. You are responsible for ensuring you have a stable internet connection, a private space where you will not be overheard, and a device with a working camera and microphone. I recommend using headphones for additional privacy.

Sessions must not be recorded by either party without mutual written consent.

10. Ending Therapy

You are free to end therapy at any time. There are no contracts, lock-ins, or minimum session requirements. I may suggest an ending session to bring our work to a thoughtful close, but this is always your choice.

I also reserve the right to end the therapeutic relationship if I believe it is no longer beneficial, or if I am unable to provide the support you need. In such cases, I will discuss this with you and, where appropriate, suggest alternative services.

11. Professional Standards

I am a registered member of the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT, Registration No. 5194) and adhere to the COSRT Code of Ethics and Practice. I engage in regular clinical supervision and continuing professional development.

12. Complaints

If you are unhappy with any aspect of the service I provide, I encourage you to raise it with me directly so we can try to resolve it together. If you feel the matter is not resolved, you can contact COSRT to make a formal complaint via their website: cosrt.org.uk.

13. Limitation of Liability

Therapy involves exploring difficult emotions and experiences. While I work to provide a safe and supportive environment, I cannot guarantee specific outcomes. Sophie Jayne Therapy accepts no liability for any decisions you make as a result of attending therapy sessions.

14. Changes to These Terms

I may update these terms from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of my services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

15. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these terms or the services provided will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
